Parked on the side of the Road to Hana in Maui is a vibrant cluster of trees called Eucalyptus deglupta which are commonly referred to as Rainbow trees. These trees are beautiful. They are found innately in the warmer climates of New Guinea, New Britain, Seram, Sulawesi and Mindanao but are now seen in many other regions of the world such as Maui, which is where I stumbled upon them. Beginning the trek down the Hana Highway, the beauty of these trees forced me to pullover to discover.
These trees expand in size very quickly, doubling in dimension within one year. The bark of the tree peels off as it grows, showcasing new layers of colors underneath, the first of these colors being a bright green. The range of colors seen as the tree ages, are from green, to blue, to purple to orange, then finally to a deep maroon creating an effortless rainbow canvas.
Dressed for a tropical destination wedding, the light blue checkered wool fabric from Huddersfield cloth of the Jason Sarai bespoke summer suit line stands well against the multicolored Eucalyptus trees. The breathable wool of Huddersfield cloth from the UK allows for great agility while in the warmer climate. A lighter blue shirt complimented the other shades of blue with a navy knitted tie to finish. The printed floral-print pocket square brought out a feel of perfusion to the entire suit, easily complemented with Maui’s backdrop. The brown, two-toned brogues from Hugo Boss was a stylish choice for this outfit and the location. Additional details to this outfit can include classic floral lapel pins, earth-tone bracelets and a strong gunmetal silver watchband and face. These details can be used delicately and interchangeably.
Experimenting and pushing the envelope when it comes to colors in destination wedding wear in Maui is acceptable in most cases, as long as it does not overshadow the groom or it does not become too vibrant that it becomes unpleasant or clashing to the natural eye. The different details used can add a break in the entire outfit, like the change in color of the pocket square and two-toned brogues in the outfit I wore. There is always style on the other side of the rainbow.
