My name is Sean Ramjagsingh and I'd like to share my experience of purchasing a suit from Style By Sarai. To start with, I'd like to really emphasize the word 'experience' because thats truly what it was...an unforgettable experience.
A little about me for context. I'm 6'11" so walking into a store and getting a decent fitting suit is not an option. I know very little about suits in general aside from being able to pick out what I like and don't like. In this case, I was looking for a really sharp suit that would stand out in a room. My intent was to wear the suit a few times per year at higher end galas and events.
My 'experience' with Style By Sarai started with an over the phone consultation where I explained the type of suit I was looking for. As part of that conversation, I was very transparent that I knew very little about suits aside from a custom suit should fit better than a non-custom suit which was really important for me given my height. Because of my admitted lack of knowledge, I asked that Jason took a 'Suits for Dummies' type approach and walk me through all the considerations when buying a suit starting with explaining the difference between a $200 suit and $2000 suit. Instead of trying to explain all the details over the phone, Jason set up a consultation so he could walk me through all of the details in person and allow me to really see and understand the difference.
The first consultation is when the fun really began. (For the record, I'm not a big shopper so me associating fun with a suit purchase really speaks to the experience that I'm going to get into.) Jason started by walking me through the difference between an off the rack suit and a custom suit showing me all the measurements that he takes to ensure a perfect fit. Next, we had a discussion around the fabric itself explaining how high end fabric differs from lower end fabric, durability of different fabrics based on thread counts and how important that was depending on how often you were going to wear the suit. We chatted about colours best suited for different times of the year and colours that were great year round. We also discussed current suit trends that may fad out vs more timeless styles. This chat itself was amazing and enlightening but the best part of the experience was really about to start.
Coming into the consultation, my expectation was that I'd pick a fabric, pick a style, get some measurements taken and be on my way. That's not what happened. After picking my fabric then looking at it under different light conditions to ensure it 'popped' the way I wanted it to, I had the opportunity to select every detail of the suit and literally build it from the ground up. I selected the pant style, the jacket style, how many pockets it would have, pocket placement, how many buttons and the buttons themselves, the pattern for the liner inside the jacket, the vest colour and style, the pattern for the back of the vest (which I chose to match the inside of the jacket to tie it all together), the buttons for the vest and the pocket placement. After selecting all of the details, over 30 plus measurements were then taken to ensure a perfect fit. At the end of the consultation, I had three thoughts:
1. I can't wait to see my creation.
2. I can't wait to do build my next suit.
3. All my friends need to experience this.
Shortly thereafter, I was asked to come back in for a fitting prior to the suit being fully complete. This was really the next part of my experience. It was going to be my first glimpse at my creation. I literally remember having some butterflies as I was driving down to get my first look at the suit. Despite all of the measurements that were taken, Jason wanted to ensure that the fit was absolutely perfect before finalizing the suit. Some minor adjustments were made and all I had to do now was wait.
Then the day came. Jason called and asked if he could come hand deliver the suit to me at work. Not only did I get to see the final product that day but I also received a custom shirt with my initials on the cuff which was a pretty slick little touch. Everything was perfect and it was truly one of a kind in every sense of the word.
I have to emphasize that as great as the suit is, I fell in love with the experience. The ability to be creative with such an expert by my side then see that creation come to life.
I can't wait to have my next 'experience'.
